Emma Wood Joins Destination Sport Travel

Destination Sport Travel are delighted to announce the appointment of Emma Wood as Head of Destination Sport Travel – Australia, as part of its expansion into the region.

Emma brings 20+ years of sports travel experience, her most recent role being as Accommodation Project Lead for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

A leading global sports travel management company, Destination Sport Travel’s expansion into the Australian market follows considerable growth throughout the UK and Europe, plus the opening of its North American headquarters in Atlanta, U.S., earlier this year.

The expansion will see Destination Sport Travel provide expert travel management services to sports events, federations, governing bodies and elite teams within Australia, whilst providing an enhanced level of support to its clients travelling to the region.

Managing Director of Destination Sport Travel, Rob Slawson, commented,

“We’re pleased to welcome Emma to Destination Sport Travel as part of our strategic expansion into Australia.

“Emma is well-known within the sports travel industry having spent 10+ years in senior roles at Thomas Cook Sport and has considerable experience within the Australian market including her recent role working on the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“With Australia due to host several major sporting events within the next few years, plus an increasing number of our clients travelling to the region, this presents an opportunity to further expand Destination Sport Travel’s global footprint.

“The expansion of Destination Sport Travel into Australia also supports the wider Destination Sport Group with a number of our divisions, including Destination Sport Experiences, inspiresport and Mike Burton Group, looking to capitalise on Australia’s growing sports industry and upcoming major events.”

Emma Wood, Head of Destination Sport Travel – Australia, added,

“I am delighted to be joining Destination Sport Group at an exciting time of global growth, to share my experience to help Destination Sport Travel develop and achieve further success.

“I’m particularly excited to have the opportunity to offer Destination Sport Travel’s unique sports travel solutions to the Australian sports industry as we build out our client base in the region.

“I’m thrilled to be back working with so many familiar faces and look forward to collaborating to deliver a market-leading sports travel solution in Australia.”
