The R&A and Mike Burton Launch The Open Experiences

Mike Burton Group, the specialist rights holder branded fan experience division of Destination Sport Group, is delighted to support the launch of The Open Experiences which will provide travel and accommodation packages to golf fans attending The Open.

The new rights holder branded programme, which has been created as part of a long-term collaboration between The R&A, Two Circles and the Mike Burton Group, will begin offering branded ticket, accommodation and experience-inclusive travel packages at the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale in 2026.

The packages will combine official tickets to the iconic Championship with a range of travel and accommodation options designed to elevate the experience of attending the oldest tournament in golf. 

Spectators will also be able to combine their ticket and accommodation packages with experiences such as securing tee times on selected local courses before or after watching the world’s best golfers compete to lift the coveted Claret Jug.

“We want to keep The Open as a pioneer of fan experiences and engagement and the agreement with the Mike Burton Group will allow us to bring it to new and existing audiences.

“The ticket and experience-inclusive travel packages will offer more to fans than simply attendance on a specific day. This is part of our continued commitment to make the experience of The Open ever more unique and memorable for them.”

Acquired by Destination Sport Group in 2023, the Mike Burton Group is a leading provider of rights holder branded supporter travel experiences, working in direct partnership with major sporting organisations such as England Rugby (England Rugby Travel) and The British & Irish Lions (Lions Rugby Travel).

As part of this agreement, The Open Experiences will appoint a selection of approved agents who will be authorised to sell The Open branded travel and accommodation packages, ensuring a trusted and consistent experience for attendees.

Ticket-inclusive experience packages for The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale will become available in March 2025 alongside a range of premium hospitality experiences via The Open website, with fans able to register their interest now.
